Today at work, while listening to a podcast about building and sustaining a community, I discovered the New Economics Foundation’s “Five Ways to Wellbeing.” Inspired by these universal principles, I have now woven them into the heart of TWR CIC—helping to support everyone’s wellbeing, not just as cyclists, but as a connected and thriving community.
At TWR CIC, our vision reaches far beyond physical activity. We believe in nurturing every member’s sense of belonging, purpose, and personal growth. Our club was built on the idea that cycling can act as a powerful vehicle for crafting meaningful relationships, promoting mental and physical health, and building a strong, inclusive community. We are committed to creating an environment where everyone feels welcomed, supported, and empowered—where wellbeing is seen as an essential foundation for personal and collective success.
By aligning the Five Ways to Wellbeing with our ethos, we ensure that all our activities—be they rides, social events, workshops, or acts of giving—foster deeper connections, encourage curiosity, and celebrate every individual’s achievements. The principles are intentionally embedded across our programmes, shaping both the big picture and the day-to-day details of TWR CIC.
TWR CIC is dedicated to creating connections that matter. Through regular group rides, community meetups, and lively digital spaces (like our friendly Discord banter), we ensure every member feels valued and welcomed.
In Practice:
We make it easy and enjoyable to stay active—whether it’s through morning indoor training, weekend outdoor rides, or inclusive fitness challenges. Our activities are designed for all abilities, supporting both body and mind.
Mindfulness is at the core of our rides and gatherings. We encourage everyone to appreciate the beautiful moments, reflect on their progress, and be present within the community.
TWR CIC is a hub for learning — offering workshops, Q&A sessions, and mentoring opportunities. Our activities empower members to expand their cycling skills and grow personally.
Giving is embedded in everything we do. From volunteering at community events to supporting each other on and off the bike, our members help shape a positive, giving culture.
By intentionally aligning the Five Ways to Wellbeing with all TWR CIC activities, we will build a community that goes far beyond cycling—one where wellbeing, inclusion, support, and personal growth are at the heart of everything we do. Come join us and experience the difference!
