Hiya all,
Welcome to another edition of Kerine’s Corner – your go-to spot for everything TWR 😊
It feels like August flew by in a flash, and now we’re heading into those gloomier days when motivation to ride might dip. But let’s keep the fire alive and get out on the road whenever we can! 😊
Before we dive into what’s ahead, let’s take a moment to shout out some of the standout moments from last month. August brought the energy — rides, sunshine, and strong showings from the community. Here’s a quick look back:
TWR members and friends showed up in force for this much-loved annual ride — our unofficial summer send-off. The route offered a bit of everything: rolling hills, sweeping flats, and that all-important seaside finish. Spirits were high from the start, with riders pushing the pace, encouraging each other through the climbs, and soaking up the sunshine all the way to the coast.
As always, the camaraderie made the ride. Whether you were leading the charge or holding steady at the back, the energy stayed strong throughout. We wrapped up with well-earned fish and chips by the sea, tired legs, and big smiles — the perfect end to a season of solid riding.

The streets of London lit up with colour, culture, and pride as TWR hosted our annual Rep Your Flag ride — a bold celebration of heritage, identity, and unity on two wheels. Born from the vision of Dean and Jade, this ride has grown into a true highlight of our calendar.
Riders came draped in flags, jerseys, and colours representing their roots — it wasn’t just a ride; it was a rolling statement of community and connection. We cruised through central London, making our presence known in the best way — joyfully, loudly, and respectfully.

September is stacked with rides to suit every kind of rider — whether you’re chasing elevation, building endurance, or just looking to stay consistent. We’re mixing it up with social rides, community collabs, and the return of our North & South London hill sessions.
These short, punchy climbs are designed to push you, test your legs, and keep your fitness sharp as we head into autumn. You’ll feel it — but you’ll thank yourself later.
These rides will be shared on Strava and Heylo, open to both members and the wider cycling community.
Let’s tackle those North and South London climbs head-on and keep our fitness levels up 💪
We’re joining forces with BWOW and WCCC for the Rapha Women’s 100 ride to Mayfield Farm. It’s shaping up to be a special day, filled with good energy and great company. Join Naomi and other group leaders as they lead the way. [Event info here.]
Five years strong — and we’re just getting started. This October marks a major milestone for TWR, and we’re pulling out all the stops to celebrate the journey, the growth, and most importantly, the community that made it all possible.
To mark the occasion, we’re bringing back the original Black History Tour — a powerful ride through key historical sites across London that honours our roots and the stories that shaped us.
We’ll wrap up the day at Bike Soup (Westfield) with food, drinks, and good vibes, in collaboration with AfriCap. This one’s not just a celebration — it’s a moment to reflect, connect, and ride together in gratitude.
Save the date: October 25. You won’t want to miss it.
Stay sharp with our weekday Zwift training sessions, running Monday to Friday from 6:00–7:00 AM. These sprints and workouts are perfect for keeping your fitness up, especially as the days get shorter.
We keep things fun and connected on Discord, with plenty of chat, encouragement, and the occasional race.

Last month, we heard from Kevin Black, Health Equity Engagement Manager at Prostate Cancer UK. If you missed it, be sure to [check out the article here].
This October, Prostate Cancer UK is launching a month-long activation encouraging people to walk, run, or cycle to raise awareness and funds. It’s all about getting active while spreading an important message — especially within our community, where the risk is disproportionately high.
If you’re interested in taking part, please reach out. It would be incredible to come together as a community, stay active for the full month, and stand in solidarity to fight prostate cancer — one step, pedal, or stride at a time.
When the colder months hit, layer up smart. Start with a moisture-wicking base layer, add a thermal mid-layer, and top it with a windproof or waterproof jacket. Throw on some thermal gloves and always use front and rear lights. Staying dry, warm, and visible is the key to keeping rides enjoyable — and consistent — all season long.
Let’s keep rolling through the seasons — rain, wind or shine.See you on the road 🚴🏽♀️– Kerine
